Michele Porter is the new care coordinator for the Central Missouri Area Agency on Aging (CMAAA) for Moniteau and Morgan Counties. Since starting in December 2011, her first priority has been letting people in Moniteau know they are in place and have many services to offer senior citizens in the county.

"What we are able to assist seniors with is pretty limitless," Porter said. "We provide support in two areas, through nutrition with the nutrition centers, and with care coordination. As a care coordinator I go in and do a home assessment on individuals over the age of 60. Our mission is to keep people in their homes independently as long as possible. Once they are in assisted living or long term care, our services cease. We make referrals, do home delivered meals, provide respite care through contracted agencies, give support for family caregivers, provide transportation through contracted companies, provide legal services through contracted local attorneys and help with senior services eligibility for Medicare and Medicaid walking through each step of the process and filing out applications."
