Scouting for Food

Boy Scout groups throughout the Great Rivers Council Five Rivers District will be participating in Scouting for Food. Scouts in Cole, Osage, Maries, Moniteau and Gasconade counties will begin hanging informational door tags on residences on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Donations will be picked up the following Saturday, March 3 and distributed to food banks in the district. Anyone making a donation should put non-perishable food items in a bag along with the door tag and place them near the front door before 9 a.m. on Saturday March 3.

If the bag is not picked up on March 3, take it to a C & R Supermarket or a Gerbes store.

Items most needed include: peanut butter; dry cereal and oatmeal; canned vegetables and fruits; dry goods, beans, pasta and macaroni; canned meats, fish, soups and chili.

Glass items will not be picked up.

For more information contact your local Cub Scout or Boy Scout group or call the council office at 1-800-SCOUTLAW.
