California, the #2 seed, led 13-8 after one quarter, 20-15 at the half, and 34-23 after three quarters. Cole Camp, seeded seventh, outscored California 13-11 in the final frame.

"We won ugly tonight," California Coach Bobby Sangster said. "We didn't execute very well and we made mistakes we haven't made in years. But hopefully we got this out of our system, we can fix things in practice tomorrow and move on in districts. The greatest gift is getting to coach these girls in another game."
