Lady Indians finish tourney in third place

Russellville's varsity girls basketball team participated in the South Callaway Tournament last week at Mokane, where the Lady Indians, seeded third, finished in third place after defeating #5 seed New Haven 45-39 Saturday.

Amber Duncan led Russellville with 20 points, followed by Kennedy Volkart with 12.

Previously in the tourney, the Lady Indians defeated #6 seed New Bloomfield 60-21 Jan. 9 in first-round action.

Russellville jumped to a 35-6 lead after the first quarter and 50-10 at the half. The Lady Indians held onto the lead in the second half as well, to secure the win.
