Seventh grade Lady Pintos win Versilles Tourney

The California MIddle School seventh grade girls basketball team participated in the Versailles Tournament Jan. 16-19, where the Lady Pintos ultimately won the championship after defeating Versailles 37-26 Thursday.

Emma Bailey led California in the championship game with 11 points, followed by Cassie Dearixon and Audrey Pickering with seven each.

"We came out and really got after it defensively and played a good first half," California Coach Bryan Lawson said. "We created a lot of turnovers that led to baskets and shot well from the free-throw line, which is one thing we've struggled with all year. I'm proud of all of the girls. They earned this first place trophy."
