Council approves membership in revitalization organization

The City of California Board of Aldermen approved membership in Aspiring Communities at its regular monthly meeting Monday, July 2.

Aspiring Communities is the first tier of Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC). The organization provides communities with "knowledge and tools for economic and physical revitalization of downtowns." This is with the idea of preservation of historic locales.

The first tier offers discounts for workshops and other networking events.

California was one of only five designated DREAM Initiative communities which were not participants in the MMSC.
