Jamestown 175th Birthday Celebration Held

The Jamestown 175th Birthday Celebration held Saturday, July 7, through Sunday, July 8, was a rousing success in spite of the overbearing heat as many came out to celebrate the heritage and future of the community.
Activities held Saturday, July 7, included a 5K walk/run at the school, USPS Cancellation Stamps at the Post Office, living history demonstrations, a parade, the opening ceremony which included prayers by St. Paul's Evangelical Church Pastor Rev. Brian Bish, the National Anthem performed by the Rohrbach Brothers Quartet, words from Jamestown Mayor Jon Imhoff and a historical address by John Clay, an organ recital at Grace United Methodist, Jamestown, car cruise in at the Community Building Parking Lot, tractor show, cake and punch reception in City Hall, live music all day on the Burgers' Smokehouse Stage, Moniteau Historical Society Cemetery Walk, Bingo at the Lions Club Park Shelter House, many games including foot races, bike races and husband and hog calling at the ballfield, a Relay for Life washer tournament, a fish fry held for the Jamestown Rural Fire Protection District held at the Community Building, a variety show held at the Lions Club Park Big Tent and Lions Club Dance held at the tennis court.
Activities held Sunday, July 8, included a community church service at the school followed by breakfast, live music on the Burgers' Smokehouse Stage and inside the Lions Club Park Big Tent, Little Mr. and Miss Jamestown 175th Birthday Celebration Pageant held in the Lions Club Park Big Tent and the Bixler Home Appliance Pedal Tractor Pull held beside the ballfield.
Tractors with trailers provided tram service throughout the weekend.
Plenty of vendors provided several goods and treats including funnel cakes, ice cream, Italian ice, burgers, corn dogs, Philly cheese steaks, pretzels, kettle corn, fried oreos and twinkies, ribbon fries and nachos along with tropical drinks, sodas and lemon and limeades.
