California resident and cancer survivor Jean Endsley discussed the importance of good nutrition before about 30 people at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Tuesday, June 12. She has given similar presentations before the Kiwanis and other groups.

Endsley, a registered dietitian for 20 years before going into the field of Industrial Safety and Health, talked about the need for people to take their own health in hand. To do this, she said each person should learn what works for them, get as much information as possible about the nutritional value of available food, nutritional supplements, medication and other health related products and programs before making decisions. Her research led her to a conclusion that healthier people keep their body and body fluids alkaline rather than acidic. This can be done through diet and physical activity which helps flush out the lymphatic system.
