Independence Day parade and fireworks

California will once again have an Independence Day parade and fireworks, with the parade in the morning and the fireworks in the evening.

On Wednesday, July 4, the parade will begin at 10 a.m., after lining up on Smith Street in the Cargill area. The parade will proceed west on Smith Street and turn north (right) on Oak Street. The parade will then continue north on Oak Street to South Street, where it will turn east (right) then continue into the Moniteau County Fairgrounds where it will end.

The fireworks will begin at Proctor Park at dusk, approximately 9 p.m.

The Independence Day fireworks display, expected to be about 20 minutes in duration, will be handled by a professional pyrotechnics team.

If the event is a rainout, the fireworks show will be held Thursday, July 5.

Yellow barrier tape will mark off hazardous areas for the safety of the fireworks watchers and others in the park.

"People who are walking the trail in the park for whatever reason are advised to stay outside of the taped-off area for their own safety," said City Clerk Brian Scrivner.
