School action thwarts fraud attempt

A credit card fraud attempt on California R-I School from Ukraine was thwarted, according to Superintendent Dwight Sanders.

"There were three tries totaling almost $24,000," Sanders said.

After hearing about fraud attempts on several Missouri schools, Sanders contacted the bank and informed bank officers of the policy on transfers, such as no Fax transfers and no wire transfers. All is done in person by school officials. He also asked that the bank be on the lookout for "unusual transactions."
