As a result of the Senate Bill 40 being passed by the state, Moniteau County voters approved a levy in 2000 to establish a political entity to provide services to persons with developmental disabilities. A nine-member Moniteau County SB 40 Board was then formed.
Among the programs the board oversees and operates are an 11-bed group home known as Deerbrook II, an Independent Supported Living (ISL) service, a transportation program, an activity center and service coordination.
