Scot Thomson, pastor at Friendship Baptist Church, California, was saved and gave his life to Christ when he was 19 years old. He was working in construction and retail when he found out that career was something he just was not happy doing. Thomson then made the decision to go to Bible college although admitting he went with the express purpose of not being a pastor.
"I knew going in I did not want to pastor," Thomson said. "Through fellowship with my friends and professors I grew to respect the position more but still did not feel called. Then one day a friend of mine took me aside and said he wanted me to consider it because it may be the way the Lord had gifted me. So I started considering being a pastor and started really praying and thinking about what it would be like to be a pastor. I found I just loved it. It was the first time I really thought about something I could really like doing in the future. I was pretty excited about pastoring at that point and still am."
