OATS Program Needs Riders

The OATS transportation program needs riders. Norma Porter, who is the Bus Match Fund treasurer and Moniteau County OATS president, said while they have the equipment and drivers, they really need riders to justify taking more trips and doing more.

"We have been shortened on trips due to gas prices," Porter said. "We can do more side trips if we had the riders to do it. There is no set charge, it is more of a free will offering. We have suggested prices of four dollars in town, six dollars in county and six to eight dollars in adjacent counties. The drivers will take you shopping, to doctor's appointments or just to visit someone. The service is not just for older adults. You do not have to be an older adult to ride. Any adult can ride."
