Spring concert held by California High School vocalists

A Spring Concert performance of the California High School vocal groups, directed by Michele Bilyeu, was held at the CHS auditorium on Thursday, May 3.

Sounds of Joy, the Women's Choir, Men's Choir and Mixed Choir performed formally for the first half of the program.

Sounds of Joy sang "Tutto lo di dici, 'Canta'" and "Angel Breathing Out." The Women's Choir performed "Night Winds," and "Come to Me, O My Love." The Men's Choir sang "She Dwelt Among the Untrodden Ways" and "What Shall We Do With a Drunken Sailor?" The Mixed Choir sang "Festival Te Deum," "When I Hear Music," "Down in Missouri" (the Missouri Waltz), and "A Capella Overtures."

Former Arkansas golfer Stacy Lewis, who finished third in the U.S. Women's Open after leading through 54 holes, said the additional time she played in college was beneficial. Her college career includes an NCAA title and six tournament victories.

Recognition was given to senior choir members Grant Burger, Nathan Burkett, Nathanial Caudel, Jenna Clague, Bailey Glenn, Jeremy Jungmeyer, Priscella Liebi, Wyatt Martensen, Connor McGill, Kassi Meisenheimer, Rachel Oerly, Missy Olson, Alec Ramsdell, Kirstyn Roush and Brooke Ziehmer.

Morgan Pressel doesn't regret her decision to skip college and turn pro. She won the 2007 Kraft Nabisco Championship at 18.

Performances following were less formal and for fun.

The Combined Choirs performed "Bohemian Rhapsody" with instrumental accompaniment by Nathan Thibon, Luke Davis, Wyatt Martensen and Brandon Embry as well as "Don't Stop Believin'."

The Girl's Choir sang "No Place That Far" and "Breakaway."

Sounds of Joy performed "Car Wash," "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "Rubberneckin'."
