Deadline to sign-up for 2012 Youth Swim Lessons is Friday

The deadline for area youth who will be in grades K-8 during the 2012-13 school year to register to participate in City of California Parks and Recreation Swim Lessons is 5 p.m. Friday, June 1.
Lessons will be divided by age groups and skill. The levels are as follows: Level 1 - First-time swimmer; Level II - Fundamental aquatic skills; Level III - Stroke development; Level IV - Stroke improvement; Level V - Stroke refinement; and Level VI - Skills proficiency.
Swimming lessons will be offered in two separate sessions. Session 1 will be held June 11-22, and Session 2 will be held June 25-July 6. The times for classes are 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Summer school participants will be enrolled in 8 a.m. classes in the first session, until they are filled.
No parents or guardians will be allowed in or near the lesson area, except on the last day of the session.
The cost to participate is $30. Checks must be made payable to: City of California Parks and Recreation, and can be mailed to: California City Hall, Parks and Recreation, 500 S. Oak St., California, MO 65018.
Registration forms and payment can also be taken to California City Hall between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. (After hours, use the utility drop box.)
