City of California Mayor Norris Gerhart, seated center, signed a proclamation Friday at California Elementary School declaring Nov. 12-16 American Education Week. CES Assistant Principal Gary Baker, at left, explained the importance of this particular week to elementary and middle school students who were present for the signing. "Schools all over will use this week to focus on the importance of giving our children the best possible education," Baker said.
