Russellville loses district championship to Fatima

The Russellville High School varsity softball team faced top-seeded Fatima in the championship game of the Class 2 District 13 Tournament Monday night at Eugene, where the #2 seeded Lady Indians lost 6-3 to the Lady Comets to end the season.

Russellville defeated Stover 28-1 to advance to semifinals Thursday, where the Lady Indians defeated New Bloomfield 10-5 to advance to the championship game against Fatima Monday night, where Russellville lost 6-3.

Previously at the district tourney, Russellville defeated Stover, the seventh seed, 28-1 in first round action Oct. 3. The Lady Indians then faced #3 seeded New Bloomfield in semifinals Thursday, where Russellville won 10-5.

The Lady Indians end the season 15-9.

Fatima (20-4) advances to Class 2 Sectionals today (Wednesday) at Lafayette County, where the Lady Comets will play Lafayette County (17-3). The game time was not available at press time.
