California wins matches against Eldon

The California High School volleyball teams hosted Eldon Thursday, where both the varsity and JV teams

captured a win.

California's varsity defeated the Lady Mustangs 25-12 and 25-21.

California's JVA won 25-23, 19-25 and 25-13.

California's JVB ended in a split with Eldon, after losing the first game 12-25, and winning the second game 25-21.

California’s varsity participated in the Fulton Tournament Saturday,

where California played three two-set matches in pool play.

The Lady Pintos lost to Fulton in the first round, 14-25 and 16-25, then faced Savannah,

winning the first set 25-23, and losing the second set 26-27.

“Savannah was the top seed in our pool, so to end with a split with them wasn’t bad,”

California Coach Dennis Davis said. “We played hard and competitive and we

were the only team in the tournament to beat Savannah.”

The Lady Pintos then faced Eldon, where California lost the first set 23-25, and won

the second set 26-24.

California finished the tourney with a 22-25 and 23-25 loss to Owensville in bracket play.

“Owensville is a pretty solid team, but we stayed right with them,” Davis said.

“We were missing three of our starters, so that was a factor, but I saw a lot of improvement

and I think the kids learned a lot.”

Previously, California hosted Stover Sept. 4, where both the varsity and JV lost to the Lady Bulldogs.

California's varsity lost 17-25 and 20-25, while the JV lost 15-25 and 18-25.

California was at home against Cole Camp Monday, where the varsity Lady Pintos defeated the Lady Bluebirds 25-23 & 25-13.

California's JVB lost 25-23, 16-25 and 22-25, while California's JVC lost 21-25 and 10-25.

The Lady Pintos will host Blair Oaks at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
