2012 General Election absentee ballot information

Absentee ballots for the General Election, Nov. 6, are available for voting beginning Sept. 25, and continuing until Monday, Nov. 5. Voters who will be absent from the county on Election Day, voters who are confined due to illness or physical disability are voters who are eligible for absentee ballots.

A voter who meets the qualifications for an absentee ballot may present himself or herself in the office of the County Clerk and vote the ballot in person. If a voter cannot appear in person, they may apply in writing, stating the reason they are eligible for the absentee ballot and the address where the ballot needs to be mailed.

Next of kin may apply for the voter but must do so in person in the office of the County Clerk. Examples of next of kin applying might be parents of a college student or spouses or children applying for a relative that is physically confined to their home.

Voters who are applying for an absentee ballot that must have their ballot mailed to them need their application filed with the County Clerk by Wednesday, Oct. 31.

The County Clerk's office will be open two Saturday mornings — Oct. 27, 9 to 11 a.m. and Nov. 3, 8 a.m to 12 noon. The regular office hours for the County Clerk's office are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Any voter who needs voter registration information information or absentee voting information may contact Anita Groepper, County Clerk, at 573-796-4661.
