Lady Pintos capture wins against Warsaw

The California High School softball teams played at Warsaw Sept. 17, where both the varsity and JV captured a win.

California's varsity defeated the Lady Wildcats 7-4.

The Lady Pintos led 2-1 after two innings and 3-2 after four. California added four runs in the fifth to lead 7-2. Warsaw managed two runs in the seventh, not enough to take over the lead.

California out-hit Warsaw 7-4. Madison Simmons led the Lady Pintos with two doubles and three RBI, followed by Amanda Karbinas with a double and two RBI. Tiffany Carel and Hughes each contributed one RBI as well.

California's JV also defeated Warsaw 7-4.

Following the wins, the Lady Pintos hosted Blair Oaks Tuesday, Sept. 18, where the Lady Pintos lost both games to the Lady Falcons.

California's varsity lost 23-0 in five innings.

Hughes and Shelby Thomason led California hits with a double each.

California's JV lost to Blair Oaks 9-0.

California's varsity traveled to Versailles Thursday for a make-up game, where the Lady Pintos defeated the Lady Tigers 9-8.

Hughes recorded the win.

Versailles led 3-0 after one inning, however, the Lady Pintos brought four home in the second to lead 4-3. The Lady Tigers pulled ahead 5-4 after the third inning, then added two runs in the fourth to lead 7-4. California evened the score at 7-7 in the sixth inning, but the Lady Tigers scored one run in the bottom to take the lead back, 8-7. The Lady Pintos scored two in the seventh and held the Lady Tigers scoreless to secure the win, 9-8.

Madelyn Jobe led California hits with a double and three RBI. Miranda Messerli followed with a double and one RBI. Tiffany Carel also contributed a double. Hughes and Alayna York each had two RBI.

California's varsity participated in the South Callaway Tournament Saturday, however, results were not available at press time.

California hosted Jamestown Monday at the California Sports Complex, where the Lady Pintos lost to the Lady Eagles.

California's varsity lost 14-4, while the JV lost 6-1.

California will play at Hallsville at 5 p.m. Thursday. The Lady Pintos will play their final games of the regular season at home Monday, Oct. 1. The varsity game will begin at 5 p.m.
