Charges filed

An April 19 traffic stop by a California police officer resulted in drug charges being filed against three people.

Charged as a result of the incident were the driver, Sangria D. Mueller, 37, Latham; the front seat passenger, Daniel C. Contreras, 23, California; and the rear seat passenger, Christopher D. Lundstrom, 27.

Two charges of Class B Felony Distribution, Delivery, Manufacture, Produce or Attempt to or Possess with Intent to Distribute, Deliver, Manufacture, Produce a Controlled Substance, were filed against both Mueller and Contreras. One charge was for methamphetamine and the second for alprazolam.

Lundstrom was charged with Class C Felony Possession of Controlled Substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana. That charge was for methamphetamine.

According to court documents, a California police officer stopped a white 2002 Monte Carlo. During the stop, it was determined that the license plates actually belonged to a 1993 Chrysler.

Mueller, the driver, informed the officer that another person owned the car, and said the owner should be asked about the license plates.

Additional checks allegedly indicated that Mueller's driver's license restricted her to driving cars with a breath alcohol ignition interlock device which the Monte Carlo did not have.

An additional check is alleged to have determined the car was stolen in St. Louis in June of 2012.

A search of the vehicle is alleged to have turned up a large supply of baggies, digital scales, two phones, a meth pipe with meth residue, a Bic pen cover with meth residue, alprazolam pills, cash and more.

If convicted on these charges, Mueller and Contreras could each face 5-15 years in prison on each of the class B felony charges. Lundstrom could face up to seven years in prison and a $5,000 fine on the class C felony charge. Bond has been set at $40,000 for Mueller and $10,000 for Lundstrom. No bond is allowed for Contreras who had previously bonded out on an unrelated charge.
