Flooding closes U.S. 63 in 2 places

High water also closes I-44

Flooding along the Maries and Gasconade rivers has closed U.S. 63 in two locations: at Westphalia and south of Vienna.

The state Transportation department recommends that motorists heading to destinations south of Vienna take U.S. 50 to Missouri 28, then back to U.S. 63.

Those traveling to areas north of Vienna but south of Westphalia should take U.S. 50 to Route U, at the west edge of Linn, then Route E at Rich Fountain and back to 63.

MoDOT has placed barriers at the closures, and reminds motorists not to go around those barriers because of the dangers from flood waters.

In addition, I-44 is closed in both directions at mile marker 172 due to flooding. Officials say the estimated duration of that closure is unknown.
