The third annual Waylon Martensen Endure the Race 5K Walk/Run Fundraiser will be held 5-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, beginning at the California High School track.
The event is hosted by the CHS track and cross country teams in memory of Waylon Martensen, a four-year member of the CHS track team who continued his passion for running at Northwest Missouri State University until his death May 7, 2010.
Registration will begin at 5 p.m. The 1/2 mile race for children ages 12 and under will start at 6:20 p.m., while the 5K Walk/Run, which will begin and end at the track, will get underway at 7 p.m.
Live music, vendors, barbecue and a silent auction will be held throughout the evening. There will be an awards ceremony for the 5K Walk/Run at close of the event.
