Double-X Speedway ends season with awards presentation

Racing for the 2013 season was concluded Aug. 11 at the Double-X Speedway, capped off with the annual awards ceremony in which drivers were recognized for their individual accomplishments and achievements throughout the season.

Perfect Attendance Awards were presented to the following: Winged Sprint Division - Tyler Blank, California; Bryan Grimers, Slater; Cody Baker, Lone Elm; and Lanny Carpenter, Clarksburg. Street Stock Division - Derek Henson, Russellville. Hobby Stocks Division - Will Register, Sedalia; Mike Schrader, Sedalia; Laura Atkinson, Eldon; and A.J. Wirts, California.

Larry Dickson, Bunceton, was awarded Rookie of the Year.

The Appreciation Award was presented to Double-X Speedway Fire and Safety crewmen Mark Cram, Jake Dill, Shane Merrill, Shawn Merrill, Zachary Merrill and Matt Taylor for their outstanding service and dedication to the Speedway and auto racing.

The C&R Supermarket People's Choice Award, which is determined solely by fan votes, was presented to Russellville's Derek Henson.

The Dirty Side Up Award was presented to Curtis Boyer, New Haven, for "complete annihilation of the 360 Winged Sprint through a series of horrendous flips on Aug. 4."

The 2013 Point Champions Awards were presented to California's Tyler Blank, in the 360 Winged Sprint Division; Russellville's Derek Henson, in the Street Stock Division; and Sedalia's Will Register, in the Hobby Stock Division.

The 2013 point qualifiers, who must have participated in 75 percent of events throughout the season, include the following: Winged Sprints - Tyler Blank, California; Bryan Grimes, Slater; Cody Baker, Lone Jack; Lanny Carpenter, Clarksburg; Tyler Elliott, California; T.J. Muths, Sedalia; and A.J. Wirts, California. Street Stocks - Derek Henson, Russellville; Dale Berry, Tuscumbia; Curtis Turpin, Jefferson City; Andrew Roark, Henley; Jerry Unger, Jefferson City; and Keeth Strange, Eldon. Hobby Stocks - Will Register, Sedalia; A.J. Wirts, California; Mike Schrader, Sedalia; Gage Wineland, Syracuse; Chuck Coffey, Windsor; Larry Dickson, Bunceton; Kevin Prall, Sedalia; Larua Atkinson, Eldon; Jeremiah Wallingford, Jamestown; and Rudy Wirts, California.
