Seventh grade Lady Pintos lose 30-25 to Lady Falcons

The California Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team hosted Blair Oaks Dec. 3, where the Lady Pintos lost a close contest to the Lady Falcons, 30-25.

Blair Oaks led 8-5 after one quarter and 15-13 at the half.

"We played Blair Oaks even in the third quarter, then they outscored us 9-6 in the fourth," California Coach Bryan Lawson said. "Offensively, we just weren't able to make our shots and defensively we made too many mistakes."

California was led by Gracie George, who hit six of nine free throws and finished with 15 points. Quinn Albertson followed with six. Grace Henley and Megan Witt chipped in with two points each.

The Lady Pintos played at Ashland Dec. 5, where they suffered a 41-25 loss to Southern Boone.

"We got beat by a good basketball team," Lawson said. "I'm proud of the girls for their endless effort; they tried their best. The game was a lot closer than the final score looks on paper."

George led California with 10 points, followed by Henley with six and Albertson with four. Kaitlyn Turner and Witt each had two points.

The Lady Pintos (3-2) will be on the road Tuesday, Dec. 17, against St. Peter and Paul Catholic at 5:30 p.m.
