New CPI board members elected

New board members were selected at the annual dinner meeting of California Progress, Inc. (CPI) Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Annunciation Catholic Church. In addition to electing new board members, the annual "Wine, Dine and Win" fundraiser was discussed, subcommittee reports were made and officers elected.

The new board members are Connie Walker, Blake Howard, Alex McGill and Beth Jungmeyer. The officers remain the same as last year, with Mike Staton as president and Becky Lawson vice president.

Larry Kent presented Staton with a plaque thanking him for serving as CPI's president for the year 2013.

The annual fundraiser will be April 12 at Braykley Hall. This will be the fourth year for the event. Tickets are $100 for a couple. There will be live and silent auction items. The grand prize is $1,500.

The California Historic District (CHD) subcommittees reported to the CPI membership. Among the items covered were that planning is underway to create an inventory of all the historic buildings, with information about them. A banner is also being planned for the historic district. The farmers market is in the planning stages. A dry run was held Oct. 4. Plans are to have it going on Friday's from 4-8 p.m. beginning in April.

Consideration is being given to having a business networking system in the business district.

The CHD has a website: www.californiahistoricdistrict.org. The organization's mission and vision statements are on the site.

One person mentioned that people may not have seen a lot of activity, "but there has been a whole lot of stuff going on."

Following the meal, Executive Secretary Vickie Schroeder entertained the crowd with an "Old Weds Trivia" game.
