The Pintos played at Green Ridge Friday night, where they won 81-60. California led 20-13 after the first quarter and 44-27 at the half. Green Ridge outscored California 21-15 in the third quarter, however, the Pintos turned up the heat in the final frame to outscore Green Ridge 22-12 to take the win.

"It was a very physical game," California Coach Blair Scanlon said. "They came to play just like I told the boys they would. This game, with so many fouls being called, it was hard to get a flow, but we played hard and got after it."

Albertson led California with 22 points, followed by Jaden Barr with 14. Mouse and Jerry Lutz chipped in with 10 points each.

Scanlon added, "This one was tough to get through from a mental standpoint, with the refs calling every little foul. It kind of put a damper on the game. But you adjust, get through it and move on."

Following the win at Green Ridge, the Pintos participated in the National Guard Shootout Saturday at Fleming Fieldhouse, Jefferson City, where they suffered a 52-50 loss to the Hermann Bearcats. (See "Pintos fall..." article on pg. 9 for more about shootout.)

Following the Christmas break, the Pintos (4-3 and 1-0 in the Tri-County Conference) will be back in action at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, against Steelville at the Gary Filbert Classic.
