Pintos fall to Eagles

The California High School boys basketball teams traveled to Ashland Friday, Jan. 4, where the varsity lost 59-35 to Southern Boone.

The Eagles led 13-4 after the first quarter, 28-12 at the half and 46-23 after three quarters.

Jaden Barr led California with 11 points, followed by Chase Ramsdell and Damon Shaw with eight points each.

"It wasn't good," California Coach Blair Scanlon said. "We haven't been shooting very well and we had some defensive breakdowns. We're playing without two of our guys, Dylan Albertson and Jerry Lutz, who are out with injuries. So that's also a factor."

Nick Carlos led Southern Boone (9-2) with 16 points.

California's JV defeated Southern Boone 42-41.

"We just need a win in the worst way to get our confidence back," Scanlon said.

The Pintos (5-5) are currently participating in the California 79th Annual Boys Basketball Tournament (Jan. 7-12). California, seeded fourth, faced #5 seeded Boonville in the opening round of the tourney Tuesday, however, game results were not available at press time.

The winner of that contest will play top-seeded Southern Boone in semifinals at 8 p.m. Thursday, while the loser, after a bye in the semifinal round of the losers' bracket, will play in the consolation game at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday.
