Jamestown places second at CCAA Tourney

The Jamestown varsity baseball team partcipated in the CCAA Tournament Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at Pilot Grove, where, the Eagles ended up playing the host for the championship, and lost 11-1 to finish the tourney in second place.

Top-seeded Jamestown defeated Higbee 8-0 in first-round of action Sept. 30. Colton DeVore recorded the two-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Alex Gerlach led hits with two singles. Bryan Reno had a single and one RBI and Christian DeVore chipped in with a single.

Jamestown faced Pilot Grove for the championship Oct. 2, and lost 11-1.

The Eagles played Bunceton Friday night, where Jamestown captured a 13-0 win to finish the season 6-6 and 6-1 in the conference.

"Overall, the season has given some valuable experience to the guys," Jamestown Coach Jordan Hoecker said. "We've played well at times, but also found some things we can work on for the spring. I'm really pleased with our progress and look forward to reaching our potential in the spring."
