JV Pintos romp to 41-0 win over Eagels

The California High School JV football team traveled to Ashland Sept. 30, where the Pintos romped to a 41-0 win over the Southern Boone Eagles.

"The boys worked very hard and played strong throughout the entire game," California Coach Rich Matzes said.

Scoring for the Pintos included two touchdowns by quarterback Landon Mouse, who also connected with Dylan Norton on a TD pass. Norton had two interceptions as well. Hunter Heimericks and Aaron Cuevas each scored a TD, and Cuevas scored five extra points.

Brandan Gump intercepted a pass and ran it back for a Pinto TD.

California hosted Blair Oaks Monday night at Riley Field, where the JV and freshmen each played two quarters.

California's JV defeated the Falcons 21-0.

A.J. Kendrick and Heimericks each scored a rushing touchdown, and Alex Dalbey intercepted a pass which he returned for a TD. Cuevas kicked all three extra points, and also recovered a fumble. Gump had an interception and recovered a fumble, and Evan Hays blocked a punt.

"We played well for only getting to play two quarters," Matzes said.

The freshman Pintos lost a close two-quarter contest to the Falcons, 8-6.

California will host Osage at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14.
