A party was held for Ova McCoy at Moniteau Care Center in honor of her 106th birthday. After the residents, visitors, friends and family of the honored guest sang "Happy Birthday," she blew out the candles (there were three over the numbers "106) and the cake was cut. Those present then were served cake, and other snacks.
Originally from Eureka Springs, Ark., the former Ova Tallant served as a telephone operator for many years. Her job was transferred to Monett. She married Clarence McCoy Sr., who died several years ago, in 1939.
She is a resident at Moniteau Care Center, near two step-grandaughters, Debbie McCoy and Renee Dority.
