The California High School Math Team attended the Smithton Math Contest Saturday, Jan. 12. Members earning individual medals included Jacob Ash, Sarah Bryant, Morgan Carpenter, Mara Caudel, Jacob Collier, Alex Davis, Jared McKee, Abby Lueckenotte, John Wolken, and Jake Woratzeck. In addition, Brian Douglas, Jessica Gammon, Jacob Hoellering, Madelyn Jobe, Savannah Jungmeyer and Olivia Kunze earned five individual event ribbons.

In class test competition, the freshman, sophomore, junior and mixed teams all placed first, while the seniors placed fifth. Eight team members earned top individual honors. Morgan Carpenter was named the top overall freshman, while Sarah Bryant and Savannah Jungmeyer were tied for third place top freshmen. Jake Woratzeck was overall top sophomore and Jacob Collier was tied for second place. Abby Lueckenotte was top junior and Alex Davis earned second place. Jacob Ash was overall top senior. California won first place in Division II at the contest.
