RUSSELLVILLE - After four years of darkened windows, the blue restaurant across the street of Cole County R-I High School is serving up hamburgers, chili dogs and ice cream treats.

The Russellville Drive-In has been returned to life by Kevin Grace and his girlfriend Whitney Burrus.

They have seen a steady stream of customers, some returning daily, since opening Monday, Grace said.

After 16 years in the fast food industry and with experience owning his own businesses, including vending and concessions, Grace said he was ready.

"I haven't done anything this major," he said. "I wanted to go out on my own and work for myself."

Eager customers have been pleased to see the business reopened, too.

Summer is the busy season, especially with ball games and other activities at the Lions Club Field next door.

But Grace intends to keep the drive-in open year-round, with changing daily specials.

For now, the store, with a drive-thru and seating for about 60, is open 10 a.m.-10 p.m. seven-day-a-week.
