Former Moniteau County R-1 High School Band Director honored

Robert H. Drummond, former band director at Moniteau County R-1 High School (1973-1975) was honored in a recent award presentation held in Rolla. He is pictured receiving the Missouri House of Representative Resolution in honor of his dedicated service as music educator in Missouri and for his lifetime accomplishments in music. 

Presenting the Resolution to Drummond is Missouri Representative Bryan Spencer of Wentzville on July13 at a ceremony in Rolla. Missouri Representative Dr. Keith J. Frederick, Rolla, and Missouri Representative Jon Carpenter, Gladstone, also signed the Resolution. 

Bob (Robert) Drummond, Director of Bands, is currently in his third year at North Daviess R-III Schools in Jameson. He has 42 years experience as educator and band director in instrumental music at the public school level. He received his bachelor and master degrees from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. He also completed extensive study at the University of Iowa.

Drummond is currently Director of 5 Star Jazz Band (www.5starjazzband.com) based in North Kansas City which is a community nonprofit music education jazz band open to music students age 12-21. In its six year history, it has logged over 150 public performances in the bi-state region, and served 125-plus students from 26 different middle schools, high schools, and colleges. Concurrently he serves as Music Director at Fairview Christian Church in Gladstone (www.fairviewcc.org). During his entire career as music educator in Missouri public schools, Drummond has also served as music director in various churches throughout the state. At the award ceremony, Rep. Spencer stated, "I am thankful for the time that he spent in Rolla, he has positively impacted a lot of young minds through music."Â
