Domestic assault charge filed

A domestic assault charge has been filed against a California man in Moniteau County Court.

According to court documents, Justin Michael Rice, 25, was charged with Class C Felony Domestic Assault in the second degree as a result of an incident which is alleged to have occurred at a residence east of California at 8:30 p.m. on June 18. An argument is alleged to have escalated and become physical. Rice is alleged to have then grabbed the keys to a truck as well as a firearm belonging to another and left the scene.

If convicted on this charge, the defendant could fce up to seven years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Bond has been set at $10,000.
