Holts Summit man charged with sex crimes

Multiple felony charges have been filed against a Holts Summit man for incidents alleged to have occurred in Moniteau County during 2012.

According to court documents, John Cecil Smith, 37, Holts Summit, has been charged with seven felony counts as a result of alleged sexual contact with a juvenile male under the age of 17 between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2012.

Charges filed are Class B Felony Sexual Exploitation of a Minor; two separate counts of Class C Felony Statutory Sodomy in the second degree; Class C Felony Use of a Child in Sexual Performance; Class B Felony Possession of Child Pornography (second offense or possession of more than 20 photos, one film or videotape); Class D Felony Incest; and Class C Felony Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the first degree.

If the defendant is convicted on these charges, he could face from five to 15 years on each Class B Felony charge, up to seven years and a $5,000 fine on each Class C Felony charge and up to four years and a $5,000 fine on the Class D Felony charge. No bond was allowed.
