Many ventured out on a cool overcast day for the annual Annunciation Catholic Church Picnic on Sunday, June 2. The event, held on church property and a portion of Mill Street near the church in California, drew young, old, residents, non-residents, church members and non-members together for fun, games and, of course, food.
The food ranged from fried chicken and roast beef dinners, either for inside dining or carry-out, and a variety of fast food items, including hamburgers and sandwiches, at several food stands.
Entertainment on the church grounds included a talent show, balloon dart throw, muffin pan volleyball, basketball throw, fishing, duck pond and face painting.
In addition, the bingo activity and cakewalk spilled over onto Mill Street. A Country Store featured handmade quilts.
