Fifth grade Drug Education Program

The California fifth graders graduated from the Drug Education Program Friday, May 10. The program began with the Pledge of Allegiance led by students Aaron Presley, Alison Miller, Olivia Strobel and Carlos Torres. Assistant Principal Gary Baker welcomed the students and guests to the program after which a Drug Rap performance was given by Anizza Avilez, Tucker Friedmeyer, Christopher Cassil and Leah Drummond.

Drug education essays were read by Olivia Bahr, Seth Combs, Kendra Dunham and Makayla Schanzmeyer. Essay alternaters were Jacob Smith, Dawson Shackleford, Bailey Elliott and Darby Hudson.

Guest speakers for the event included California High School sophomore Jaden Barr and seventh graders Elizabeth Lutz and Halle Oliver. They all agreed that people involved in school activities, such as sports, FFA, drama club, music and others are less likely to be involved with drugs.

Certificates were presented by fifth grade teachers Lisa Milligan, Lindsey Porter, Kelli Williams and Stephanie Zimmerman.
