Don't be left off the track

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Moniteau County is just around the corner, June 14, at the Moniteau County Fairgrounds with Opening Ceremonies at 6 p.m.

Relay For Life is a fun-filled, overnight event that mobilizes communities throughout the counrty to Celebrate Survivors, Remember Loved Ones lost and raise money for the Fight Against Cancer.  "The funds raised enable us to continue our investment in the fight against cancer through research, education, advocacy and services to patients." said Rae Ann Shackleford, Event Chair. "Due to the generosity of our corporate sponsors, the money raised by participants goes directly to the American Cancer Society's lifesaving programs."  The American Cancer Society Relay For Life unites friends, families, caregivers and the community, people from all walks of life.  Teams seek sponsorship prior to the Relay, all with the goal of supporting a cure for cancer.  "Many participants are our family, friends and neighbors who have been cured of cancer themselves.  Their involvement is proof of the progress that has been made not just in cancer cure rates, but also in the quality of life following cancer treatment."

Help is needed as the Committee "Paints the Town Purple" Saturday, June 8, beginning at 9 a.m. Participants will meet at KRLL and tie purple ribbons on the period light posts on Oak Street and encourage local business and home owners to show Purple Pride by decorating and tying purple ribbons of their own.
