Smith preliminary hearing set for April 16

The preliminary hearing of Travis R. Smith is set for April 16 in Moniteau County Court. The California man was arraigned on felony sex charges filed on Sept. 28, 2012.

According to Court documents, the two charges filed include a total of six counts which include a range of felonies from forcible rape to sexual abuse. The charges are for incidents alleged to have occurred in 1998, 1999 and 2005.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Smith was picked up in Morgan County on Monday, Oct. 1, on warrants issued in Moniteau County. The accused pastors a church in Stover.

He is free on $50,000 bond on one charge and $20,000 bond on the second charge. Smith appeared with Attorney John Kay on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
