Indians defeat Eagles 12-2

The Russellville High School varsity baseball team traveled to Eugene Thursday, where the Indians defeated the Eagles 12-2.

Clayton Meyer recorded the win with six strikeouts.

"The boys came out and played with a very determined effort, which was nice to see as we enter the final week of the regular season," Russellville Coach Lucas Branson said. "This was a good game for us to build some momentum with and continue to do the little things to get better."

Chandler Wolf led Russellville hits with four, including a homerun, and four RBI. Clayton Harrison had three hits and one RBI, while Kaleb Libbert had two hits and two RBI. Nick Haslag chipped in with two hits and one RBI, and Meyer, Clayton Thompson and Caleb Harrison each contributed one hit.

The Indians are the top seed in the Class 2 District 8 Tournament and will play the winner of the opening game between New Bloomfield, seeded fourth, and New Haven, seeded fifth, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at New Bloomfield. The district championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 15.
