Lady Indians place third at district track meet

The Russellville High School varsity track team competed at the Class 2 District 3 Track Meet Saturday at Cuba, where the Lady Indians finished in third place with 113 points. Fatima won the girls' division with 148, followed by South Callaway with 146.

Fatima also won the boys' division with 132.5, followed by Vienna with 90 and South Callaway with 82.5. The Russellville Indians finished seventh with 52.

"Overall, it wasn't a bad day," Russellville Coach Sean Lovelace said. "The kids performed as expected and we had a few surprises, which is always good. We're going to sectionals Saturday at Boonville, where we should also fare well."

Those who finished in the top four of their event at the district meet earned All-District honors and advance to the Class 2 Sectional Meet Saturday, May 11, at Boonville.

Lady Indians who finished in the top four of their event are as follows: Hannah Campbell, first place, 100 Meter, 12.92; Miranda Hill, third, 1600 Meter, 5:55.65, and first, 3200 Meter, 12:40.75; Emma Koestner, third, 400 Meter, 1:04.60; Justice Miller, second, 200 Meter, 27:73; Taylor Young, fourth, Long Jump, 14'10.5", and second, Pole Vault, 8'6"; Jamie Webster, fourth, Pole Vault, 7'6"; Erica Miller, fourth, Triple Jump, 30'8.5"; and Grace Young, fourth, 800 Meter, 2:32.73.

The team of Miller, Koestner, Campbell and Jorden Barnhart placed first in the 4x100 Meter Relay with 52:38, first in the 4x200 Meter Relay with 1:50.55, and first in the 4x400 Meter Relay with 4:27.66. The team of Adrianna Basnett, Grace Young, Taylor Young and Hill placed second in the 4x800 Meter Relay with 11:14.91.

Indians who finished in the top four of their event are as follows: Alan Murphy, first place, Pole Vault, 12'6", and Austin Smith, third, 11'6"; Dakota Burgess, fourth, High Jump, 5'8"; and Alex M. Thompson, third place, 1600 Meter Run, 5:00.12.
