PAWS FOR A CURE Saturday at Proctor Park

Due to weather, the Second Annual Relay For Life PAWS FOR A CURE, originally scheduled for May 4, was rescheduled for Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Proctor Park.

There will be food, door prizes and a raffle that will include a gift certificate for services up to $80 from the California Veternary Clinic, a $50 gift certificate for services from Southwest Animal Hospital, Jefferson City, and a large dog house from California Construction.

PAWS for a Cure is a non-competitive walk event for dogs and their owners to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.

Registration will begin at 9:45 a.m. The registration fee is $10 per dog with each receiving a gift bag.

Hope Warriors has expanded the event this year by adding some exiting activities and presentations to the schedule, including an agility course for dogs hosted by Mid-Mo Dog Training, a K9 demonstration by Moniteau County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Ward, contests such as "Best Kisser" and "Best Tail-wagger," and crowning the Paws King and Queen.

Teresa Porter, Califonria, will be in attendance to offer the latest in dog fashions, as well as doggie diapers and collar slides.

Everyone is welcome to attend and support Relay For Life, even those who aren't dog owners. All dogs must be well-behaved, on a leash at all times, and children and pets must be accompanied by at least one adult walker. Because Proctor Park is within city limits, pit bulls will not be allowed to participate, as the city ordinance prohibits pit bulls.
