Annual Track Banquet held at CHS

The annual California High School Track Banquet was held May 22 at the CHS Commons, where athletes were recognized for their individual achievements throughout the 2013 season.

"We had a successful year," CHS Head Track Coach Rick Edwards said. "Our girls started the season at the middle of the pack, then placed in the top five at districts and sectionals. This was the most improved team I've ever coached."

Edwards added, "Our boys were decimated by injuries, but they competed hard. I was really proud of their effort, despite the injuries that really hurt them."

The following awards were presented: Sydney Deeken and Walker Borghardt received the Most Points in Field Events Award; Katie Imhoff and Logan Rowles received the Most Points in Running Events Award.

"On the girls' side, this was the closest contest we've ever had for most points in running events," Edwards said. "There were four kids. It was real close."

Lizzy Kirby and Dakota Harris received the Pinto Award.
