Army Spec. Devin M. Backes has re-enlisted in the U.S. Army during a mass re-enlistment ceremony at Regional Command South, Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan Oct. 11.
Backes is an allied trades specialist assigned to the B Company, 3rd Assault Helicopter Battalion at Fort Riley, Kan. He has served in the military for four years.
Backes is the son of Brenda Sims, Jefferson City.
He is a 2007 graduate of California High School, California.
