Celebration of life event for Travis Butts family

A Celebration of Life dinner and auction for the family of Travis Butts is to be held Saturday, Nov. 23, hosted by Mike Cummings and the Eldon Country Club. The dinner and auction will be at the Eldon Community Center, 309 E. Second Street.

Butts was the superintendent of the Eldon Golf Club at the time of his death in a traffic crash. He had held the job since 2005, working closely with Cummings who is the head golf pro at the course.

The dinner of barbecue ribs, donated by Burgers' Smokehouse, and pork loin, and the silent auction are from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The live auction begins at 8 p.m. Travis was well known for his love of barbecue.

Items for the live auction include a Custom Club Car Mizzou golf cart; a family membership for Osage National Golf Resort, $3,000 value; family membership at Eldon Golf Club with cart, $1,600 value; family membership at Redfield Golf and Country Club, $1,200 value; Browning 8500 12-gauge shotgun, $1,400 value, and more.

Included among the items for the silent auction are: four rounds

at the Portocima Golf Club, Lake Ozark, $920 value; four rounds Jefferson City Country Club; four rounds at Highland Springs Golf Club, Springfield (hosts yearly PGA tournament); and others.

All the proceeds will go to the family of Travis: Angie and daughters Alayna and Madelyn.

Tickets to the event, $20 each, are available in California at Winding Roads, Bonds Pharmacy and Mr. G's.

To get to the community center from California, take Highway 87 south to Eldon, turn right on Business 52, turn right again at the first traffic light, go two blocks and the center is on the right.
