Jamestown Rural Fire receives grant
Wednesday, November 13, 2013
The Jamestown Rural Fire Protection District has received a grant for the amount of $2,000. The money will be used towards the purchase of a Portable Gas Powered Electric Generator and the installation of the generator at the Fire Station at 355 West Row Street in Jamestown. In the event of a power outage, it will be used to provide power to the Fire Station. During a natural disaster, or wide spread power outage – such as last winter – the fire station can be used for a shelter. During the power outage from the snow storm last winter, the fire station was opened up to the public in order for people to take a hot shower, cook a warm meal, and to give them a place to warm up. In appreciation to MFA Oil Foundation, JRFPD will now be able to help in this fashion, even if the power is out.
