On Veterans Day, the students of Latham School had breakfast with several veterans, then presented them with special handmade cards. Each card was an individual creation, decorated with cutout construction paper designs such as stars and hearts, and written messages thanking them for their service and saying the veterans were appreciated.
Before handing out the cards, several students did the Pledge of Allegiance in sign language, followed by a recitation of the Pledge. The veterans present informed the students of their branch of service, then the students talked about various relatives who were in the military. The students then returned to class to continue their school day.
