Lady Pintos end season with district loss to Lady Eagles

Despite their season ending with a 15-0 loss to Southern Boone at the Class 3 District 10 opener at Ashland Oct. 9, the California Lady Pintos were happy to gather for a final team picture following the loss.

The California High School varsity softball team faced Southern Boone in the first round of the Class 3 District 10 Softball Tournament Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Ashland, where #6 seeded Lady Pintos lost 15-0 in four innings to the Lady Eagles.

California started off the first inning with singles by Amanda Karbinas and Ashlyn Moore, however, the Lady Pintos were unable to produce a score. Southern Boone also came up empty in the first inning.

After a scoreless second inning where the Lady Pintos went three up and three down, the Lady Eagles answered with eight runs to lead 8-0, then added two runs in the third to lead 10-0.

While the Lady Pintos continued to struggle offensively, Southern Boone added five runs in the fourth inning to secure the win 15-0.

Emma Kelly recorded the win for the Lady Eagles.

Jessica Hughes recorded the loss with two strikeouts.

The Lady Pintos end the season 1-11.

Southern Boone advanced to the district championship game Saturday, where the Lady Eagles lost 9-0 to top-seeded Blair Oaks.

The Lady Falcons will play Sullivan at 12 noon today (Wednesday) at Class 3 Sectionals.
