Russellville loses district semifinal game to New Bloomfield

After defeating #7 seeded Stover 20-3 in three innings in the opener at the Class 2 District 13 Softball Tournament Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Russellville, the #2 seeded Lady Indians lost the semifinal contest 11-1 to #3 seeded New Bloomfield Thursday.

Madison Love recorded the win with nine strikeouts.

New Bloomfield went on to defeat top-seeded Fatima 3-1 Saturday for the district championship, to advance to Class 2 Sectionals at 12 p.m. today (Wednesday), against Lafayette County, at New Bloomfield.

Previously in regular season play, the Lady Indians traveled to Mokane Sept. 30, where they defeated South Callaway 2-1. Miranda Hill recorded the win with five strikeouts. Micayla Gilmore was the big bat of the night for Russellville.

"Micayla came up in the top of the fifth with the bases loaded and singled to deep right field, bringing Libby Mueller and Emma Koestner in to score," Russellville Coach Trisha Black said.

Koestner and McKendra Fischer each had two singles, and Hill and Amberlyn Grellner each contributed a single.

Russellville hosted Fatima Oct. 3, where the Lady Indians lost 12-3 to the Lady Comets.

Hill recorded the loss with two strikeouts.

Koestner led Russellville hits with a double, two singles and one RBI. Fishcher had a triple and Amberlyn Grellner and Hill each recorded a single and one RBI.

Russellville hosted Eugene Oct. 7, where the Lady Indians lost 8-6.

Hill recorded the loss with eight strikeouts.

Libby Mueller led Russellville hits with a triple and three RBI. Gilmore followed with two singles and two RBI. Koestner had two singles, Hill had a double, and Basnett had a single and one RBI.

Russellville ends the season 12-6.
